Drug Uses
Neurontin is used for treatment of seizures associated with epilepsy. It may also be used for handling nerve pain associated with herpes zoster (shingles) infection (postherpetic neuralgia). Neurontin can also be used for other condition as prescribed by your physician.
How Taken
Use Neurontin as recommended by your doctor. Use Neurontin with or without a meal. Do not take an antacid containing aluminum or magnesium within 2 hours before you take Neurontin. Don't suddenly stop taking Neurontin. You may have an increased risk of side effects (eg, seizures). If you need to stop taking Neurontin or add a new drug, your doctor will gradually lower your dose.
More Information
Neurontin can cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. These effects can worsen if Neurontin is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Neurontin with caution. Don't drive or perform other possibly negative tasks until you know how you respond to this product. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, notify your doctor. Neurontin should be used only by the patient for whom it has been suggested. Do not take less or more or take it more often than directed by your physician.
