Drug Uses
Crestor is used to control the level of cholesterol and blood pressure in people with primary hyperlipidemia or mixed dyslipidemia. Crestor is only effective when used along with certain diet.
How Taken
Crestor comes in pills to be taken orally with or without food. Usual dose is 10mg - 40mg once a day.
More Information
You may need a dose adjustment or special monitoring during healing or you may not be able to take this drug at all if you have kidney or liver infection or if you have gastrointestinal problems. This pill interact with the following products- phenytoin (Dilantin); tamoxifen (Nolvadex); tolbutamide (Orinase); torsemide (Demadex); fluvastatin (Lescol); a blood thinner such as warfarin (Coumadin), heparin, ardeparin (Normiflo), dalteparin (Fragmin), danaparoid (Orgaran), enoxaparin (Lovenox), or tinzaparin (Innohep); (Activase), anistreplase (Eminase), dipyridamole (Persantine), streptokinase (Kabikinase, Streptase), ticlopidine (Ticlid), and urokinase (Abbokinase). Patients taking the above mentioned medicines should consult with a physician concerning the dosage and possibility of Crestor usage.
