Drug Uses
Dapsone is used for curing leprosy. It can be used in combination with other drugs. It is also used to cure dermatitis herpetiformis (extremely itchy groups of skin lesions, usually occurring on the elbows, knees, and scalp). It can also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
How Taken
Take Dapsone as prescribed by your physician. Use Dapsone on an empty stomach. If stomach upset occurs, you may take it with meal to reduce stomach irritation. If you also take didanosine, don't take it within two hours before or after taking Dapsone. To clear up your infection completely, take Dapsone for the full course of medication. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days. This product works best if it is taken at the same time each day.
Additional Information
Dapsone may cause blurred vision. Use Dapsone with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this pill. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, visit your physician. This drug should be used only by the patient for whom it has been recommended. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
