Drug Uses
Atarax is used for relief of anxiety and tension motivated by psychoneurosis and organic disease states in which anxiety is manifested. It can be used for other situations as suggested by your doctor.
How Taken
Atarax comes in tablets to take in by mouth. The ordinary daily dosage for adults is 50-100 mg. Children over 6 years should take Atarax 50-100mg every day in divided dosages. Daily dose for children under 6 years of age is 50mg divided into several dosages.

Atarax can cause giddiness. These effects can worsen if Atarax is taken with alcohol or certain other drugs. Use Atarax with caution. Don't drive or perform other possibly dangerous tasks until you know how you react to this drug. If your symptoms don't improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. Atarax should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Don't take less or more or take it more often than directed by your physician.
